Man dies in shooting

POST FALLS — A man died after a shooting Tuesday night in Post Falls, and another was arrested in connection with the incident.

Post Falls police responded to a dispute in the 200 block of Columbia Street, a press release said. While en route, police received reports that shots had been fired.

Officers found an adult male with gunshot wounds and began first aid. He was transported by Kootenai County Fire & Rescue to Kootenai Health, where he died of his injuries, the release said.

Paul Mitcheal Best Jr., 29, surrendered himself to law enforcement at the scene without incident, the release said.

Best was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and is being held at the Kootenai County jail pending first appearance at 2 p.m. Thursday.

The identity of the deceased male has not been released.

An investigation continues.
