Gonzaga’s Day named
#WCCRepresent winner
SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Gonzaga women’s tennis student-athlete Katie Day, who faced a battle against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, was named winner of the 2020 #WCCRepresent Award, as voted on by the Student Athletic Advisory Council groups from the 10 conference schools.
As the Gonzaga Health and Wellness co-Chair, Day was recognized for showing exceptional courage, composure and leadership when faced her own health battle against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Despite the early end to her on-court competitive career, Day remained dedicated to assisting the entire Gonzaga student-athlete population access wellness programs. Once COVID-19 struck, Day organized SAAC resources to produce a video in support of those on the front lines of the fight.
Two Chiefs selected for
national junior team development camp
CALGARY, Alberta — Forwards Adam Beckman and Jack Finley of the Spokane Chiefs are among 15 Western Hockey League players invited to Hockey Canada’s virtual National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp set for July 27-31.
Beckman was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the 2019 NHL Draft.
