With Bakery by the Lake open downtown for 10 years, Frank and Andrew Pigott have opened Bakery by the Lake East at 315 E. Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive.

Like the downtown location, it offers fresh-baked pastries and breads, specialty desserts, sandwiches, salads, premium coffee, beer and wine. Breakfast and lunch are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in June and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting in July.

It includes a cafe, drive-through, a roll-up window to patio seating along the Centennial Trail and fireplace, evening appetizers and a grab-and-go case. Carly Clafin is assistant manager, and Christina Hull is featured artist.

Laura Quast has opened her seventh Jitterz Espresso stand, this one at the southeast corner of U.S. 95 and Wyoming Avenue (behind Ziggy’s).

It offers an assortment of coffees and teas, bagels, burritos, sandwiches and kids’ goodies with two drive-throughs. Hours are 4:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The cosmetic tattoo studio inside Old City Hall downtown (424 E. Sherman, Suite 206) has expanded to Pure Aesthetics in Suite 102 at The Northern Complex, located north of Maverik at the corner of Ramsey Road and Hanley Avenue.

A graduate of the Art Institute of Portland, Caitlin Redmond offers a variety of skincare services and lash extensions, and premium product lines. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with the downtown studio open for Sunday appointments and training classes for microblading.

Offering custom residential and light commercial services, Green Mountain Construction has moved its offices to 1026 N. Fourth St.

With the motto of delivering a quality product with superior service, hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Owner Shawn Smith is assisted by Tiffany Smith, Matt Odel, Jason Bailey and Tom Walker.

• Giorgi’s Restaurant will be where Roger’s Ice Cream & Burgers was on Neider Avenue.

• Basicular columns (six-sided rock formations) are used in landscaping in several places, most notably on the Spokane Airport exit and in North Idaho (Higgens Point and Riverstone). Molten rock came from volcanic fissures in Hells Canyon, downwarping and cooling from the earth’s crust and pulling to the center in hexagon shapes in series of cracks. The same pattern is seen in mud cracks and frozen ground.
