BIRDS: Humans causing extinction

| June 12, 2020 1:00 AM

The Press carried a news article on Saturday that related how the Trump administration is scaling back laws that protect wild birds that were passed by Congress in 1918. More than 1,000 species are covered under the law.

Readers may recall an announcement several months ago that North America has lost about 3 billion of its bird population (35%) since 1970. This relaxation of regulations will likely hasten their further decline.

On Sunday in the Spokesman, the weekly feature Earthweek, had a paragraph that scientists are predicting that 500 species will go extinct in the next few years. The Trump administration is rolling back environmental regulations across the board. This is for the short-term benefit of the 340 million Americans who live on this continent.

But it makes you wonder — why did God put all these creatures here in the first place if humans are going to drive them all to extinction?
