Lake City product Kolden to

compete in

Collegiate Summer Baseball invite

Lake City High product Kodie Kolden was selected to compete in the Collegiate Summer Baseball Invitational starting today in Bryan, Texas.

Kolden, a sophomore third baseman, came in as a freshman and immediately produced for the Cougars, playing in 43 games with 39 starts. He had 33 hits with four doubles and two home runs. Kolden had six multiple hit games with two 3-hit games in 2019. In the shortened 2020 season, Kolden hit .256 with six RBIs, including a 4-for-4 game against Rutgers where he also scored and drove in a run.

Kolden will play for the CSBI Unity, coached by former major league pitcher LaTroy Hawkins.

The Unity will face The Liberty in the opening game tonight at 4 p.m. (ESPN2), followed by the Freedom vs. the Independence.

Due to the layoff of competitive baseball since March, tournament rules include pitch count, innings and appearance limits.

Players range from the Pac-12, SEC, Big Ten, ACC and Big 12 Conference.

Friday and Saturday games in the three-day tournament are available on a pay-per-view basis.
