Boise man catches record 32-inch catfish

| June 4, 2020 1:00 AM

A Boise man set the state catch and release record for channel catfish.

Scott Turner of Boise, landed the 32-inch catfish last month while fishing the Snake River in Canyon County. The previous record was a 31-inch fish caught two years ago by James Stackhouse.

With his latest catch, Turner holds catch and release records for both channel catfish and flathead catfish in Idaho. Channel catfish live in many lakes and reservoirs, including in North Idaho.

Fishing usually turns on in late spring when water temperatures rise above 60 degrees.
