CRIME: Unity over statistics
I find it appalling that a person can take a few numbers and marginalize an issue simply because they don’t understand the “big picture.” We are facing hard times in this country and Black Americans have a right to be angry because they don’t feel safe. In fact, I would argue that in my lifetime tensions have worsened.
Everyday African Americans have to worry about things I couldn’t fathom. When I get in my car I personally don’t have to worry about my throat being crushed by a rogue police officer.
It is because of people like you that we are reminded that this conversation must remain a focal point in our lives. If we don’t solve this problem and change the minds of people like Mr. Hawkes, then who will?
