DISCRIMINATION: Today’s targets

| July 12, 2020 1:00 AM

A few years ago there was a common phrase, “Liberals lie.” They try to keep conservative views from being expressed. In America, atheists, homosexuals, abortion advocates and liberal politicians do this.

Non-Christians (or anti-Christians) have tried to prohibit Christian views from public expression. People in nearly every vocation have been disciplined, demoted, fired, denied school diplomas, etc., for presenting politically incorrect messages or for refusal to accept or participate in activities with which they disagree. Public exposure of Christian symbols is punished.

A very common but unnoticed way of discrimination against Christian perspectives is censoring them from public print or broadcast. Public school textbooks often omit “In the name of God Amen” and “for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith” in the Mayflower Compact. Alexis de Toqueville’s Democracy in America (two large volumes) was condensed to one small volume by eliminating all religious references.

A current local example is the Post Falls Press’s coverage (July 5) of the impromptu Coeur d’Alene Independence Day parade. It was very well-written but was not totally true. It mentioned “a few flags flying in support of President Trump’s re-election.” A man at the beginning of the parade looked like Trump. Nearly every vehicle had a sign of some type for “Trump.” Only those who watched the parade would know. That censorship was probably to keep from offending Democrats.

It may not have officially been a “Trump parade,” but participants made it that.
