Kootenai River Days events canceled

BONNERS FERRY — Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Kootenai River Days events are being canceled for 2020 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The decision was made following “much discussion” with the All-Class Reunion group, chamber officials said in a press release Thursday.

“With the recent rise in COVID-19 numbers around the country, the chamber cannot in good conscience host an event that regularly draws hundreds of tourists from other states and regions into our area, potentially infecting many in Boundary County,” chamber officials said.

The chamber’s utmost concern is for the health and well-being of the local businesses and the families who run and patronize them, the board said in the press release.

“While we are disappointed to have to make this decision, we believe it is the right thing to do to keep our community healthy and strong,” they said. “We thank you all for your support and understanding!”
