Bayley tied for 16th

in Dakotas Tour event

Derek Bayley of Rathdrum is tied for 16th after a first round 4-under 68 in a Dakotas Tour event at Central Valley Golf Club in Hartford, S.D. on Wednesday.

Bayley won his first professional tournament at the Reno Open on the Golden State Tour last Thursday to qualify for the PGA’s Barracuda Championship, scheduled for July 30-Aug. 2 in Truckee, Calif.

Sulman Raza of Eugene and Julian Taylor of Vermillion, S.D., are tied for the lead at 63.

The tournament concludes on Friday.

NIC calls off

volleybal camps

North Idaho College’s scheduled volleyball camps for this summer have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The camps, a youth volleyball camp for players in fifth through eighth grade Aug. 5-6, as well as a high school camp Aug. 7-8.

NIC men’s basketball players announce

next destination

Sophomores Jaden Dewar and Christian Guess joined the growing list of North Idaho College men’s basketball players moving on to the next level, the school announced.

Dewar, a 6-foot-6 guard/forward from Portland committed to play at Division II Arkansas Tech in Russellville. Dewar appeared in all 29 games and shot 61 percent (136 for 223) over the season, finishing fifth in the Northwest Athletic Conference in field goal percentage. Dewar averaged 11.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

Guess, a 6-6 guard/forward from Cleveland, will play at Division I Samford in Birmingham, Ala. Guess led the Cardinals in scoring (21.6 points per game) and was selected for the NWAC Eastern Region second team.

The duo join Nate Pryor (Washington), Emmit Taylor III (Idaho State), James Carlson (Idaho State), Yusuf Mohammed (Tennessee State) and Joey Naccarato (Division II Fort Lewis (Colo.) moving from a team that finished 28-1 in 2019-20.
