After reading the Coeur d’Alene Press article the other day, I was astounded that Commissioner Brooks would not want to approve getting the county jail a body scanner. I contacted him, and he called me back immediately. He said he was not against it, and in fact was strongly for it after having it explained correctly by a member of the Sheriff’s Department.
I told him of my experience having been a jailer for 12 years and how having a tool like this scanner would have been invaluable. It only takes two or three jail overdoses to pay for the scanner. I believe those of us who pay taxes understand the results of being able to eliminate overdoses and fights over contraband in our Kootenai County Jail.
