Rewers helps Lake City fend off Post Falls
COEUR d’ALENE — Brooklyn Rewers scored 12 of her game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Lake City Timberwolves past the Post Falls Trojans in a 5A Inland Empire League game at Lake City High on Tuesday.
Kendall Pickford had 14 points and six assists, Rewers had 10 rebounds for Lake City (14-5, 5-0 5A IEL), which clinched at least a share of the league title with the win. The Timberwolves can win the title outright with a win at Coeur d’Alene on Thursday.
“Every time there’s a strong effort to take away Aubrey (Avery, who finished with two points), somebody else steps up,” Lake City coach James Anderson said. “Kendall has been so selfless all year and she was dialed in and started making some shots. Post Falls and coach (Marc) Allert always do a good job of game planning, disrupting and their press got to us in the first quarter. Once we settled in, we did a good job.”
Rewers scored 18 in the second half.
“Brooklyn was just fantastic in the fourth quarter,” Anderson said. “She’s been so good in the second half all year. She’s playing really, really well right now.”
Dylan Lovett scored 17 points for Post Falls (10-9, 1-4), which hosts Lewiston on Friday.
“We did a good job and scored in transition in the first quarter,” Allert said. “Our effort and everything is there, and Dylan did a great job to hold Aubrey to one basket. We did everything we needed to do, but are just limited in how we can guard them. I was really proud of our effort. You can’t fault that.”

RATHDRUM — The Hawks climbed out of a first-quarter hole and made a game of it, but a stretch of turnovers in the second half doomed the hosts in a 4A Inland Empire League loss to the Bulldogs on senior night at Hawk Court.
“There was a period where we didn’t take care of the ball,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “We had four or five turnovers in a 90-second stretch that really hurt us.”
Katy Ryan had 21 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots and two steals for Lakeland (6-13, 1-3 4A IEL), which fell behind 19-8 after one quarter.
“The first half we missed five or six point-blank shots,” Seymour said. “We were probably a little keyed up on senior night, and got down big. But we fought our way back into it. The seniors played hard, and I thought gave a great effort on their home floor. It was nice to see them battle back into it.”
