PRESIDENTS: Avoid this precedent

| January 29, 2020 12:00 AM

It is not illogical to believe that no person is above the law. It is just as illogical to believe that a president, any president, of the United States has the right to defy a congressional subpoena.

The validity of the process in either case can be determined after compliance with the law. Anyone who believes otherwise simply believes in rampant lawlessness or, in the case of the presidency, monarchy. Keep in mind; if any president is allowed to defy this bedrock principle of our Constitution, all presidents who follow, regardless of political affiliation, will inherit the right to do the same.
