John C. Kraack, 88

John C. Kraack, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, from heart failure at Kootenai Health. He was surrounded by his loving family. John was born Jan. 29, 1931, in Columbia Falls, Mont., to John A. and Alberta Kraack. He married June Farrington on July 1, 1949, in a barbershop in Superior, Mont. They were married for 61 years before June’s passing on Oct. 21, 2010.

John attended grade school in Clagstone, Idaho. At recess, he would take off to go fishing in a nearby creek. The remainder of his schooling was in Rose Lake, where he graduated high school in 1948. His working years included logging and mining in the Silver Valley. Favorite activities included hunting, fishing, the casino, watching sports on TV and his family.

There was a twinkle in his eye when he could tell a good story, tease or when any of his grandchildren walked in the door. All who knew him enjoyed his great sense of humor and ability to jokingly give someone a bad time.

John was preceded in death by his wife, his brother, Alvin, and his sister, Gerry Howe. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Rich) Richardson of Medimont; son Steve (Sue) Kraack of Coeur d’Alene; daughter Debbie Kraack of Harrison Flats; son Rick (Tami) Kraack of Medimont; and son John (Marla) Kraack of Conkling Park. Also surviving him are 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild due in April. Also surviving are brothers Dean, Rich, Pete and Mike Kraack, sisters Frances Plemmons, Dianne Halverson, and Beverly Kamstra, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Rose Lake Historical Society, S. 14917 Queen Ave., Cataldo, Idaho.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements. Please visit John’s online registry at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
