FLU: Do this for Christina
I was shocked to read of the death of Christina Braun of Hayden at age 36 … from the Influenza B virus.
In recent weeks we are learning that this year’s flu virus may only be effective 20% of the time. Not very efficient for something we all know is highly contagious. Is it time for the paper to recommend the wearing of the light-weight ear loop masks when we’re out in large groups of people? Or, even when a family member gets the flu?
This simple-to-wear mask has bacterial filtration efficiency greater than 99%! (Not to be confused with the N95 particulate respirator mask for fire smoke.)
Since before Thanksgiving, I have been wearing one of the ear loop masks whenever I am out shopping. No one stares at me and makes me feel self-conscious. To the contrary, some have passed by saying “good idea.” Bottom line here: Let’s not let the death of one of our own neighbors be in vain. Let’s do it for Christina!
