POTPOURRI: Nine items, opinions
1. If you are tired of Congress and the way they do nothing but fight, you need only do one thing. Elect people who are in favor of fixed terms and insist we install term limits. Senators get two six-year terms and Representatives get three or four two-year terms.
2. Our two weather men have about the same odds of getting the weather forecast right as you get at a Las Vegas craps table when you play the No. 12. 35:1
3. If you are tired of all the traffic and population increase in Kootenai County, you need only elect officials to the city and county government who will put a moratorium on residential development. This is apartments, condos and single family.
4. Kootenai County should place an Impact Fee on each single family home, apartment or condo before being built so the existing taxpayers do not have to pay for all the new resident’s use of our infrastructure.
5. Property owners along the Spokane River surely have a right to get a no-wake zone on the river in order to protect their property. They do vote you know.
6. Our schools with the exception of charter schools have a tendency to dumb down the classes rather than raise the standards and demand all students reach a level in which they can read and write and do math. Pass and fail are still grades, as well as A, B, C and D only.
7. It seems to me when a college joins a new conference, you would have read all the rules and requirements to follow before making that final decision. That is really just a due diligence most people follow.
8. Socialism cannot work because everyone does not have the same I.Q., work ethic, “I can do attitude,” or willingness to make your bed when you get up or ability to save for the future.
9. Your country is like your home: Protect it from unwanted intrusion.
