WAKES: Rational solutions

| February 28, 2020 1:00 AM

Since there has been considerable comment as to the wake boarding and water skiing incidents on the Spokane River, I’ll add my two cents worth.

Since nothing has been done to calm the waters, how about the commissioners take the time and effort to write an ordinance banning all waterskiing and wakeboarding from the mouth of the Spokane River to the Post Falls dam. Making a $100 fine for a first offense and graduating to $500 for multiple offenses.

I believe KCSO would have this situation in hand in fairly short order. This ordinance should consider the same type of prohibition of wake boarding on the lakes within 500 feet of the shore. The middle of the lakes should provide plenty of space to have fun without impacting shoreline homeowners.
