NIC BASKETBALL: Cardinal women’s coach Carlson a winner in final home game

COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore Anna Schrade had 16 points and nine rebounds for North Idaho College in a 72-59 win over the Columbia Basin Hawks in the Northwest Athletic Conference finale for both schools at Rolly Williams Court on Wednesday, the final home game for Cardinal coach Chris Carlson after 16 years at the helm.

Carlson is retiring at the end of the season.

NIC (17-10, 11-5 NWAC) will enter the NWAC Championship tournament as the fourth seed from the East Region after Wenatchee Valley beat Yakima Valley 90-76 in other action on Wednesday.

NIC will find out its opponent during the conference selection show on Sunday at 4 p.m. on nwacsportsnetwork.com.

Sophomore Halle Eborall, a Lake City High product, had 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals for NIC. Isabella Gutierrez and Sami Sanders scored 14 points each for Columbia Basin, which finishes 8-20, 5-11.

COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore Nate Pryor had 21 points and six rebounds for the Cardinals in a win over the Hawks in the season finale for both programs at Rolly Williams Court.

NIC (28-1, 16-0 NWAC) is ineligible for the postseason for the next three seasons due to conference sanctions.

Sophomore Jaden Dewar had 17 points and 13 rebounds and sophomore Joey Naccarato, a Coeur d’Alene High product, had 13 points and seven rebounds for NIC.

Miguel Hernandez scored 15 points for Columbia Basin (8-20, 3-13).
