Gladys Pearl Winkelmann, 87

Gladys Pearl Winkelmann was born June 30, 1933, to Harry and Pearl (Seigfried) Smith, in Allentown, Pa. She grew up in Allentown and graduated from Allentown High School. She continued her education and attended Moravian College in Pennsylvania, where she attained a degree in secretarial science. She was united in marriage to Howard Henry Winkelmann Jr. on March 9, 1958, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Allentown. Their union was blessed with two sons, Bruce and Scott, and 61 years of marriage together. The couple made their home in Allentown, where Gladys cared for the home and family. She was a monumental support for Howard in his law enforcement career. Following Allentown, they moved to various communities of Anchorage, Alaska and Spirit Lake and Rathdrum, Idaho. On Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, Gladys died at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene at the age of 87 years.

Gladys loved her family and will be remembered for her great singing voice. She enjoyed animals — especially dogs — and time spent with her family.

Gladys is lovingly remembered by her husband, Howard, of Rathdrum; sons Bruce (and Tami) Winkelmann of Dallas and Scott (and Renee) Winkelmann of Wasilla, Alaska; grandchildren Nicole, Sydney, Erik, Amber and Cierra; and a great-grandson, Gavin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Pearl.
