NABOBS: Plenty in the U.S.

Without question, public discourse on the national level has deteriorated in recent years. It is fashionable to ridicule and disrespect people who don’t share your political views. Perhaps it is because mean-spirited people have to channel their unpleasant feelings into the political arena because it is illegal to disparage others based on their race, religion, etc.

In my view, Donald Trump is partly to blame but so are those people suffering from the “Trump Syndrome.” Back in the Nixon era, Spiro Agnew referred to them as the “Nattering Nabobs of Negativism.”
