Sheep tag nets $165K for wild sheep research, management

An Idaho bighorn sheep tag recently brought $165,000 at a fundraiser for the Wild Sheep Foundation, a nonprofit wildlife conservation organization.

The tag was purchased at an auction at last month’s Wild Sheep Foundation Convention and Sporting Expo, better known as “The Sheep Show,” in Reno.

The tag is given to the group by the Idaho Fish and Game commission, which has the authority to select a nonprofit to auction one bighorn sheep tag each year.

Since 1988, the auction tag has generated more than $2.47 million for bighorn sheep research and management.
