DEBT: Numbers corrected

| February 2, 2020 12:00 AM

Editor’s note: Due to Press transcription errors, Ray Goddard’s letter to the editor published last Sunday contained some inaccurate information. Here’s the math from Mr. Goddard as he submitted it:

Another year, another trillion dollars added to our National Debt — now $23 trillion. Let’s review once again:

- One million dollars in hundred dollar bills weighs approximately 22 pounds.

- One billion dollars weighs 22,000 pounds.

- One trillion dollars weighs 22 million pounds.

- 23 trillion dollars weighs 506 million pounds, or 253,000 tons! That equals two nuclear powered aircraft carriers fully loaded with armament, personnel and toilet paper, plus 614 M1A Abrams tanks, plus 20 tons of Red Bull for the tankers.
