Eastern-Portland State

men's series off due to COVID

Covid-19 testing on Wednesday didn't go well for the Eastern Washington men's basketball program, as a confirmed positive case wiped out this weekend's Big Sky Conference home games versus Portland State.

The Eagles were to host Portland State tonight at 6 and again Saturday at noon. Eastern has been in contact with the league office and Portland State in hopes that the games can be made up in lieu of outright cancelation.

Both programs entered this week's action 2-4 overall, with EWU winning its league opener at Northern Arizona in its last game on Dec. 19 and having a game the day earlier canceled. Portland State split its opening weekend of league action versus Weber State.

Eastern will follow protocols to determine the impact of the positive case on its upcoming schedule. The next scheduled games are a two-game road trip to play Weber State, scheduled for Jan. 7 and 9. Weber State had its games canceled this week because of Covid-related issues within Idaho State's program.
