POST FALLS β€” A man with nine previous felony convictions is in jail after police said they found him with drugs in a stolen car.

Washington resident Jacob L. Gier, 26, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and frequenting, both misdemeanors.

Post Falls police responded around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 22 to a report of a stolen vehicle bearing Montana plates. Police determined it was a rental that had been stolen from a Post Falls residence.

Gier, the driver, allegedly said he had borrowed the vehicle from a friend and did not know it was stolen. His passenger, identified as 36-year-old Washington resident Joenisha S. Nolan, allegedly said Gier told her he’d bought the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle allegedly yielded a plastic baggie containing a substance police said was meth and two loaded syringes, as well as drug paraphernalia, including used needles and pieces of scorched foil.

Police said Gier was found to be wanted on a Washington warrant. He was arrested at the scene.

Nolan allegedly did not comply with orders to walk away from the vehicle or kneel. Police said she resisted when they detained her in handcuffs.

She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, frequenting and obstructing an officer, all misdemeanors.

Gier was convicted of nine felonies in Washington between 2011 and 2020, including possession of a controlled substance, residential burglary and malicious mischief.

Judge James Combo ordered last week that Gier be held on $40,000 bail. He also ordered that Nolan be held on $1,000 bail.
