SPIRIT LAKE — A preliminary hearing is pending for a Bonner County man accused of domestic violence and holding a pistol to a man's head earlier this month.

Scott P. Gibson is charged with aggravated battery, a felony, and misdemeanor domestic violence. He is free on a $100,000 surety bond while the case is pending.

Sheriff's deputies were summoned to the 200 block of Outback Loop Road on Dec. 5, after Scott allegedly punched a man in the face and held a gun to his head during a dispute, according to court documents. A woman at the residence said the violence erupted after Gibson sent internet links to her phone alleging a politically-related pedophile conspiracy theory.

The links appear to be connected to the unfounded conspiracy theory that Democrats are operating a child sexual abuse ring operating as a deep-state cabal.

The alleged victim said Gibson barged into his room and began inflicting property damage before he was attacked with the pistol, court documents indicate. Gibson was initially reported to have shot the man, although a deputy's affidavit said the man was found uninjured.

Gibson, 48, is accused of punching and choking the woman, in addition to forcibly removing her from a bedroom by her hair, court documents indicate. Gibson is further accused of holding the gun to a man's head during the dispute.

There was evidence of gunshots being fired into walls of the home, court records indicate. Moreover, the residence was reportedly "trashed," according to court documents. Gibson could not be located when deputies responded to the home.
