NAPLES — A Boundary County man was killed after crashing into a stand of trees off U.S. 95, a crash that went undetected for several days, Idaho State Police said.

State police said Bryan Kirchbaum was driving southbound on the highway when his Nissan Versa went off the road. The crash was discovered on Monday, although it's believed Kirchbaum went off the road on Christmas Day, according to family members.

State police said the scene of the crash was not visible from the highway and snow had obscured the wreckage. Seatbelts were worn at the time of the crash and airbags inside the subcompact vehicle deployed.

State police said the crash remains under investigation.
