Rose Sophia Rachunok

Rose Sophia Rachunok went to be with the Lord, on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, three days before her 96th birthday. She was born to Charles Cashmere and Mary Magdalene Radulski at midnight on Dec. 21, 1924. Her four brothers were Frank, Joe, Stanley and Eddie.

Rose was baptized on Jan. 11, 1925, at St. Stanislaus Church in Detroit. She went to Catholic School for eight years at Mount Saint Carmel.

She worked for a short time for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle as a “Rosey the Riveter” during WWII. Rose and Walter Rachunok were wed on Dec. 7, 1945, in Detroit, after he returned home from serving in the Pacific. They were married for 57 years until his death in 2002.

In 1959, Rose, Walt, and two sons, Dennis and Larry, moved from Anaheim, Calif., to Hayden Lake, Idaho. She was employed by Pendar Corporation in Post Falls, where she worked her way up to inspector. Rose and Walt opened Lazy Acres Café near Spirit Lake, Idaho, for a few years. They spent the rest of their retirement years in Post Falls.

Rose is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Jackie) of Hayden, Idaho, and Larry (Nancy) of Post Falls; grandsons, Duane Rachunok of Caldwell, Idaho, and Jeff Rachunok of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; granddaughters, Aimee Rachunok of North Bend, Wash., and Meaghan Rachunok of Post Falls; and also many great-grandsons and great-granddaughters; special sisters-in-law, Nina Trimberger from San Luis Rey, Calif. and Lillian Radulski; nephews, Greg, Steve and Pete Rachunok, also from California; numerous nephews and nieces throughout Michigan, California and Florida, and good friend, Beverly Davis.

Thanks to Almighty God for watching over her. She prayed to Jesus everyday! Thanks to the loving and caring people and staff at Brookdale Assisted Living in Coeur d’Alene, Kootenai Health and Hospice House of North Idaho.

Mom, we love and miss you very much!
