Michael Norman Meyer, 68

| December 23, 2020 1:00 AM

Mike passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2020, at home in Rathdrum, Idaho, after a lengthy illness. Mike was born Sept. 3, 1952, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to Norman and Lorrane Meyer.

Mike graduated from Lakeland High School in 1971. Through his life he enjoyed sports, playing baseball for years and coaching Peewee and Little League Baseball for several years. He had a long career at Kaiser Aluminum in Trentwood, Wash., and retired in 2001.

Mike then learned the art of wire wrapping and creating jewelry from many types of raw gems and stones from his father-in-law, Duffy White. They traveled and sold their jewelry at gem shows in the northwestern states. Mike loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and watching his grandchildren participate in sports and motorcycle racing.

Mike is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diana Meyer; his mother, Lorrane Scott; his father and stepmother, Norman and Doris Meyer; son, Ron Meyer; son and daughter-in-law, Ric and Jodi Meyer; grandsons, Dylan Meyer, Matthew Meyer, Justin Martin, Timothy Martin and Scott Martin. He is also survived by three brothers: Roger Howard, Corky Meyer, Dale Meyer; three sisters: Debbie Meyer Vanslate, Marilyn Meyer Fisher, Doreen Meyer Thomas; and sisters-in-law, Connie Williams and Vicki Cade; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as numerous close friends and children that he considered family as they gathered around the family pool, celebrating holidays at home. He is predeceased by his very much-loved father-in-law and mother-in-law, Duffy and Florence White.

Mike requested no service. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Mike’s online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
