Diane Emilie Berg (Eichhorn), 73

| December 23, 2020 1:00 AM

Diane Emilie Berg passed away on Dec. 12, 2020, in her home in Spirit Lake, Idaho. Diane was born in Bellevue, Iowa, to Robert Eichhorn and Beulah Dagitz, on Jan. 3, 1947. The family moved to Minnesota where she graduated from Proctor High School in 1965.

After a trip to Europe, she met and, in 1971, married Gary W. Berg. In 1989, she and the family moved to Spirit Lake. There, she and Gary opened a taxidermy and tackle shop.

She immediately became involved in the community. She was a volunteer EMT and EMT instructor for the Spirit Lake Ambulance Service. She also became active in city politics, being elected and appointed on the city council numerous times, always doing what she thought was best for the community.

Diane eventually found a second family when she took a job at OXARC in Spokane, working there for 13 years until she retired. Diane was never afraid to speak her mind or give you her honest opinion. She loved traveling, her gardens and quilting. You could often find her on the front porch, enjoying an evening with Gary in the summer.

Diane is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gary Berg; her loving sons, Timothy and Kristopher Berg; her brother, Lynn Eichhorn; and a number of close friends. Diane was preceded in death by her mother and father, along with her brother, Bruce Eichhorn.

No services are scheduled at this time. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Diane’s online memorial and sign her guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
