Clyde ‘Rich’ H. Richardson, 73

| December 11, 2020 1:00 AM

On Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, Clyde Harvey Richardson II, Rich as he was known to those who knew and loved him, passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family at his side.

Rich was born on Jan. 8, 1947, in Spokane, Wash., to Clyde and Shirley Richardson. His family moved to Rose Lake, Idaho, when Rich was in high school. He would later graduate from Kootenai High School in 1966. It was there that Rich met the love of his life, Cheryl Kraack. The two were married on Oct. 19, 1968, and would spend the next 52 years together. They made their home together near Medimont, Idaho, where they raised their two sons: Michael of Fortuna, Calif. and Rich of Boise, Idaho.

Rich joined the Army in 1966 and was stationed in Würzburg, Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1968. After serving in the military Rich was trained as a welder. He worked on natural gas lines for Avista utilities before retiring in 2009.

Rich loved being retired as it afforded him ample time to pursue his most loved hobbies. He took great pride in keeping his yard manicured like a park. Rich had an incredible talent for restoring cars and he loved his three 1966 Ford Mustangs that he completely restored himself. He had a passion for the beautiful scenery of North Idaho and in retirement took up road biking. He especially loved the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes and could be seen on it frequently, either on his bike or walking with Cheryl and their dog, Max. Rich loved his family and enjoyed making prime rib holiday dinners for everyone.

Rich was preceded in death by his father, Clyde; his mother, Shirley; and his older brother; Melvin. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; a brother, Greg; and his two sons, Michael and Rich. Rich is also survived by his four grandchildren: Miranda, Michael, Garrett and Connor.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date when we can safely gather and remember Rich. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to give to Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815. The family cannot thank Hospice enough for the quality and compassionate care they provided for Rich.

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Rich’s online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
