COEUR d'ALENE — A fire in the donation area outside the Idaho Youth Ranch thrift store early Wednesday was believed to be arson.

A witness said a man with a torch set fire to the garbage can at the back of the building, according to a press release. The witness called police and firefighters soon arrived to douse the flames.

“Idaho Youth Ranch is very thankful that no one was injured and that all staff were safe,” said Amy Evans, vice president of North Idaho for Idaho Youth Ranch.

The store at 845 N. Fourth St. remains open and "continues to support therapeutic services to kids here in North Idaho and throughout the state,” Evans said.
