COEUR d’ALENE — A woman was arrested after she allegedly tried to hit a police officer.

Katherine R. Davis, 27, of Fort Worth, Texas, is charged with battery upon certain personnel, possession of a controlled substance and spitting, all misdemeanors.

Spitting on sidewalks, vehicles, persons or buildings violates Coeur d’Alene city code.

Police responded Friday evening to a report that an intoxicated woman had refused to leave a Coeur d’Alene residence where she did not live.

Davis allegedly walked out the front door after police arrived, then turned and began pounding a wall.

When told to stop, she reportedly stepped toward an officer, who pushed her back. Davis allegedly swiped at the officer’s face with one hand.

Police arrested Davis at the scene. After she was seated in the police car, she allegedly began to spit “in all directions.”

A search of her purse yielded marijuana, police said.

Judge Clark Peterson ordered Monday that Davis be held on $600 bail.
