Harold J. Deming, 86

Harold J. Deming, age 86, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away Dec. 6, 2020, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House of Coeur d’Alene. He was the youngest son to Jay (Poppy) and Bernice (Mimi) Deming. Harold was born Nov. 1, 1934, in the town of Mill Iron, Mont. In his younger years he went to school in towns in North Dakota, Tennessee and in Coeur d’Alene. He worked for Morrison Knutson in Grace, Idaho. He moved to Coeur d’Alene, where he was an assistant lifeguard at the city beach. There he met his wife, Shirley Edwards Deming, and had three children.

Harold was a stock car driver in the early days and used to race in the surrounding area and has many trophies. He then went to work for Deming Machine and Supply for his father, which then became Deming Industries, which he later co-owned with his brother, Carl. Harold had many jobs working as the owner of Easy Way Car Wash on Third and Fourth Streets in Coeur d’Alene. He worked for the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course as a special projects designer, Henry Griffith golf clubs, Avondale Golf Course, Hayden Lake Country Club and Cannon Hill Industries.

Harold was an avid golfer and loved boating on Lake Coeur d’Alene.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, and leaves behind his longtime partner, Debbie Sagdal; son, Bruce (Mary) Deming; daughter, Brenda Jeffries; son, Todd (Lorry) Deming; stepchildren, Paige Wabs Gorton, Troy (Jennifer) Wabs and Adam (Tami) Wabs; grandchildren, Tyler Jeffries, Alexia (Gabe) White and Sam Deming; great-grandchild, Benjamin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
