HAYDEN — Two Spokane men were arrested Saturday in connection to an attempted theft at the Hayden Walmart.

Levi J. Dublin, 20, and Tyler R. Pritchard, 40, were booked on drug charges, conspiracy to commit burglary, burglary, burglary tools and grand theft, according to a Kootenai County Sheriff's Office press release

KCSO deputies responded about 1:30 p.m. to the store at 550 W. Honeysuckle Ave., for a report of a possible theft in progress.

"It was reported a male was attempting to leave the store without paying for a shopping cart full of items," the release said.

Deputies found the two men removing about $1,200 in merchandise from the cart into a U-Haul van.

During the investigation, authorities learned Dublin had felony warrants out of Spokane for theft.

A deputy and his K-9 partner Bailey searched the U-Haul, as Pritchard was seen concealing items under the wheel well. Drug paraphernalia was located in the van, along with a suitcase containing stolen merchandise.

Dublin and Pritchard are also suspects in thefts at other area Walmarts.
