WSU women’s basketball openers postponed due to COVID-19

The Washington State women's basketball team will not travel this weekend to face California for its season-opening game on Sunday, nor its following game Tuesday against Stanford, as both games have been postponed.

The decision was made under the Pac-12's basketball policy as Washington State does not have the minimum number of scholarship student-athletes (7) available for the games due to COVID-19 protocol and associated contact tracing.

The Stanford game was moved to Las Vegas because of a ban in Santa Clara County, where Stanford is located, of athletic activities that involve physical contact or that take place indoors. The ban runs through at least 5 a.m. PST on Dec. 21.

The Pac-12 Conference will attempt to find mutually agreeable dates to reschedule the contests.
