KELLOGG — Already two games into the season, the depth of the Lakeland Hawks showed itself again on Wednesday night.

Jalen Skalskiy scored 31 points off the bench for the Hawks in a 63-28 win over the Kellogg Wildcats at Andrews Gymnasium.

“They’re a monster,” Kellogg coach Mike Martin said. “They’re long, athletic and a very skilled group. Jalen shot the ball really well and they got out in transition and sped us up. That is an impressive group they’ve got over there.”

Ammon Munyer scored 14 points for Lakeland (2-0), which beat Timberlake 81-23 in its opener on Saturday.

Logan Jerome had 14 points and seven rebounds for Kellogg (0-1), which faces the Post Falls JV in the opening round of the Silver Valley Tournament on Friday at Wallace High starting at 5 p.m.

“Our kids battled,” Martin said. “With how good Lakeland is, we were a little outmatched. But to see them come out and not roll over and play hard all night, it was good to see.”

Lakeland hosts Lake City on Saturday.
