Jack Alden Legard, 90

Born John A. Legard, on April 21, 1930 in Dorris, Calif., Jack was the eldest son of Allen W. Legard and Margaret (LaCombe) Legard. While he was a baby, the family moved to the Silver Valley in Idaho. Jack graduated from Kellogg High School, class of 1947.

He worked as an electrician in various mines in the Valley and Central Idaho. Later, he worked as an electrician in Arizona, California and Washington before opening his businesses, Legard Electric, Legard Lighting and Legard Appliance, in 1971. With his partner, Mike McDaniel, he also opened shops in Anchorage, Alaska and Mesa, Ariz. After retiring in 1985, Jack opened another electrical business in Orange County, Calif., until 1992.

For many years, Jack enjoyed fishing, golfing and hunting, along with spending winters in Salton Sea, Calif., and Yuma, Ariz.

Jack is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Legard; his four children: Connie (John) Cacioppo and Helen (Rick) Terway, both of Pasco, Wash., A. Dean Legard of Spokane Valley, Wash., and M. Lynn Northrup of Hayden, Idaho. He also has three step-children: Denis Vollom of Newhall, Calif., Kathy (Jim) Tapscott of Show Low, Ariz., and Steve Vollom of Ohio. He was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jack is also survived by two brothers, Jim Legard of Pasco and Jerry (Gloria) Legard of Osburn, Idaho. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanne Ziemba; grandson, Jeff Vollom; granddaughter, Jody Matz; first wife, E. Maxine; and second wife, Bernice.
