LEWISTON — Bryce Allred recorded a first half hat trick, then added another goal in the second half to lead the Lake City Timberwolves past the Lewiston Bengals 5-0 in an Inland Empire League match at Walker Field on Tuesday.

"We started with a strong lineup and got the formation right and were able to control the midfield early to our share of possession," Lake City coach Alan Rich said. "We are still experimenting with our defensive options, but the two different groups we had on the field in both halves were very solid defensively. I'm pleased with the style of soccer we played today."

Landon Lee had three assists for Lake City (2-0-0), which host Sandpoint on Thursday.

SANDPOINT — Logan Koller scored a hat trick for the Trojans, but the host Bulldogs scored twice in the final five minutes to break a 4-all tie in the Inland Empire League game on the new artificial turf at War Memorial Field.

“Logan, I thought he was phenomenal; every time he got the ball, we felt he was going to score,” Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said. “We’ve been plugging on in practice, how to score, how to score, how to score, and apparently we forgot about the defense.”

Evan Darling scored the go-ahead and clinching goals for Sandpoint (1-1, 1-0 IEL).

“We got two goals early, and we were dominating the flow of the game, and then made a couple really stupid mistakes in the back that should never happen in a million years, and gave up two easy goals on two bad passes in the back … really frustrating,” Lawson said. “I can’t remember if I’ve ever coached in a game where I’ve had a hat trick, four beautiful goals, and we lose the game. Just absolute sloppy defending, was what it was.”
