PHD confirms first Boundary County coronavirus death

BOUNDARY COUNTY, IDAHO – Panhandle Health District confirmed the first COVID-19 death in Boundary County on Wednesday.

The individual was a Boundary County resident in his 70s. He had been hospitalized due to complications from COVID-19.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones during this difficult time,” said PHD Director Lora Whalen.

This is the 40th COVID-19-related death in the Panhandle Health District. At this time, 27 Kootenai County residents, 11 Shoshone County residents and one Benewah County resident have died.

As of Tuesday, Kootenai County has 2,105 coronavirus cases, Bonner has 210, Benewah is at 210, Shoshone has 191 and Boundary has 42 cases.

Health officials remind people to wear masks, wash hands and practice social distancing to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
