At long last, high school
sports slated to return today
COVID or not, the high school fall sports season in North Idaho is scheduled today.
In boys soccer, Coeur d’Alene is scheduled to travel to Post Falls, and Lake City is slated to host Sandpoint. Both games are scheduled for 4 p.m.
In girls soccer, Lake City travels to Sandpoint today at 4.
On Saturday, Timberlake’s boys and girls soccer teams travel to Bonners Ferry, with the girls at noon and the boys at 2 p.m.
The first football games in the area are scheduled for next Friday, with Lakeland at Lake City, Post Falls at Sandpoint, South Fremont at Timberlake and Mullan-St. Regis at Lakeside, all at 7 p.m.
The last high school sporting event in North Idaho was March 14, before spring sports statewide were shut down and ultimately canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Pickleball lessons
starting soon
Beginning pickleball lessions will be available starting Saturday, Sept. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. and running for four weeks at Cherry Hill Park in Coeur d’Alene.
Lessons will be Sept. 5, Sept. 12, Sept. 19 and Sept. 26.

Hayden recreation

Registration for flag football for boys and girls entering grades K-4, through Hayden Recreation and Community Events, will be accepted through Aug. 28 (in office) and Aug. 30 (online).
Players must be age 5 by Sept. 19.
Fees are $24 for Hayden residents, $29 for nonresidents.
A flag football coaches meeting is scheduled for Sept. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at Hayden City Hall.
Soccer signups for boys age 3-15 are being accepted through Aug. 28 (office) or Aug. 30 (online).

Divisions are U8 to U15 (ages 7-15), Micro-Kickers (age 5-6) and Mini-Kickers (age 3-4).

All flag football and soccer games are scheduled to begin Sept. 19.
