Langham tops locals after Day 1

of Washington men’s am

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — Former North Idaho College and current University of Idaho golfer Sean Langham shot a 2-under-par 70 and is tied for fourth place after the first day of stroke play at the Washington Men’s Amateur on Tuesday at Chambers Bay.

Former Post Falls High standout Joseph Glenn, who this spring transferred to Utah Valley after two seasons at Idaho, shot a 2-over 74 and is tied for 25th place.

Tony Hanna of Rathdrum, the former Timberlake and Coeur d’Alene boys basketball coach, who qualified by finishing fourth (top 12 advanced) at a qualifier two weeks ago at Kalispel Golf and Country Club in Spokane (formerly Spokane Country Club), shot 80 and is tied for 88th.

Sean Kato of Redmond, Wash., shot a 7-under 65 and leads by four shots enterting today’s second round, after which the low 60 players (and ties) will advance to Wednesday’s final round.

Kootenai County Vandal Boosters

slated to meet Thursday

COEUR d’ALENE — The Kootenai County Vandal Boosters are scheduled to meet Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Cabin 5 at The Coeur d’Alene Resort.

Matt Martin, new associate athletic director for special products, will be the guest speaker via Zoom. His current project is completing the fundraising for the new ICCU Arena.
