Violet Pearl McHenry, 98

Violet Pearl McHenry was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Leon and Elodia Lagrou, who were both born in Belgium.

She went to be with her Lord on July 27, 2020, while living at Maplewood Assisted Living.

Violet graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1940 and graduated from Kinmen Business University in Spokane in 1941. She worked for L.D. McFarland Co. in Sandpoint for five years before marrying Dwight McHenry, on Oct. 13, 1946, and moving to Hamilton, Mont., for five years.

She was active in women’s ministry and Coeur d’Alene Bible Church for many years. She then attended Hayden Bible Church until failing health prevented her from going.

She enjoyed sewing, reading and traveling. She was a member of the KMC Hospital auxiliary and camera club in her younger years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, George and Henry Lagrou; sister, Mary Whitmore; husband, Dwight McHenry and step-daughters, Carol Ott and Norma McHenry.

Violet is survived by daughter, Judy Bird (Richard); granddaughter, Shannon Forbes (John); great-grandchildren, Joshua and Alysha Forbes; step-grandchildren, Shelly Cheevers (Mike), Scott Bird (Diana), Shannon Howard (Matt) and Bill, Connie and Rose Breckenridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St. in Coeur d’Alene.
