Celia Jane ‘Janie’ Orr, 65

Celia Jane “Janie” Orr, 65, went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 29, 2020, in Post Falls. Janie was born in Libby, Mont., on June 3, 1955, to Edward and Charlotte Orr.

Janie had a true servant’s heart. Whether it was the jobs she chose or the volunteer work she did on her own time, Janie always found herself helping those who were in need or could not help themselves. She never had much in this life but would give what she had away if there was someone she felt needed it more. The beauty of her love for Jesus is in giving everything away; she is now rich in every way.

Besides working in the health care industry as a personal caregiver, Janie found great joy in volunteering at her local church. Janie had a huge heart for children and would volunteer her time in the children’s ministry at both Assembly of God in Libby and Real Life Ministries in Post Falls. She also gave of her time to the church’s benevolence ministry, spending time in their food room. If there was a place where there were children or someone who needed a hand or a meal, you would find Janie there with a smile.

Janie loved the outdoors. She loved to camp, fish and just spend time by a good campfire. When she could, she also liked to travel, including trips to both Mexico and Israel. She loved anything that was colored purple and her Philadelphia Eagles. Her favorite flower was the orchid because she was an “Orr-kid.”

Cooking was a passion for her. She had multiple jobs as a cook, but also blessed so many people with meals, pies and cookies. Everyone who ever had her food or treats will miss these blessings.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Charlotte; her brother, Howard; and her sisters, Susan and Nancy. She is survived by siblings Herb, Rob, David, Marie and Maggie.

Janie is also survived by her children, Crista Bassett of Libby, Desi and Mike Freeman of Hayden, and Callie and Brandon Pierce of Post Falls. Her dearly loved grandchildren were her world: Dakota and Brittanie Bassett, Heaven and Ben Swanson, Shane Crill, Taylor and Elijah Woodman, Kyndall Freeman and Brandon Freeman, Alexis Thomason and Tatyana Davis. Also, the gems of her life were her great-grandchildren, Gabe, Zuri and Carter. She loved her family which also included numerous nieces and nephews.

In her Bible, we found the only underlined verse. She loved this verse and tried to live her life by it, Matthew 22: 37-40.

“Jesus replied, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Memorial services will be held in both Post Falls, Idaho, and Libby, Mont. The Post Falls memorial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at Real Life Ministries Post Falls, Building 2. The Libby memorial will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 12, 2020, at the Assembly of God church.
