Thomas Condos, Jr.

Thomas Condos, Jr. passed away on July 24, 2020, at Ivy Court, in Coeur d’Alene

He was born on July 29, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio, to Thomas Condos, Sr. and Virginia (Matheny) Condos.

He lived in Columbus until he entered the United States Air Force in 1951, and he later graduated from Victor Valley College in 1974 with an associate degree in science.

He was married to Dorothy Olive Cunningham on Oct. 22, 1955, at the Church of Christ on Ninth and Lime, in Riverside, Calif.

Tom entered service in the United States Air Force, at Sheppard Air Force Base, in Topeka, Kan., in 1951, during the Korean War. He was an aircraft mechanic, specializing in working on B29 Superfortress aircraft engines. He was discharged at March Air Force Base, Riverside, Calif., in September of 1955.

He was employed at:

1955, Western Electric- Columbus, Ohio and Highland Park, Calif.

1956-1991, Continental Telephone- Redlands, Victorville, Bishop, Calimesa, Apple Valley, Manteca and Victorville, Calif.

1991, Retired after 35 years from Contel Telephone, Victorville, Calif.

Residences of lifetime:

1933-1951, Columbus, Ohio

1951-1955, U.S.A.F., New York; Kansas; California (Highland Park, Riverside, Redlands, Victorville, Bishop, Calimesa, Apple Valley, Manteca, Hesperia); Idaho (Coeur d’Alene).

He served as a deacon and later as an elder for the Church of Christ in Victorville and Manteca, California. As a deacon, he oversaw the buildings and grounds. He was one of the building founders of the Victorville Church of Christ and also one of the original cosigners of the building.

He was a wonderful example to his children, who will continue to carry on his love for the Lord. His son, Tom, has also served as a deacon and an elder. His son-in-law, William Hoff, served as a deacon. His grandson, Tom, is a youth minister. His grandson-in-law, Timothy Rogers, served as a deacon.

He loved working on cars (maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting car issues), woodworking, and he was an all-around handyman.

He was a member of the Church of Christ and American’s Veterans Association

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Condos of Coeur d’Alene; son, Thomas L. Condos and wife, Diana of Rathdrum, Idaho; daughter, Cindy Hoff of Salmon, Idaho; daughter, Cathy Quinn of Chowchilla, Calif.; grandchildren, Jenny Rogers and husband, Timothy, of Spirit Lake, Idaho; Tom Condos and wife, Amanda, of Albuquerque, N.M.; Shawna Hoff of Bozeman, Mont.; Tim Hoff and wife, Challise of Bozeman and Aydan Quinn of Bellingham, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Quinton Rogers, Weston Rogers, Brenton Rogers, Peighton Rogers, Kerston Rogers, Theo Condos and Cooper Condos.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Condos Sr. and Virginia, and his son, Timothy Wayne Condos.

The interment was held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery on July 30, 2020.
