LEGION BASEBALL: Lums fall to Spokane Expos

COEUR d’ALENE — Liam Paddack scored on an error to give Coeur d’Alene a 6-5 lead in the fourth inning, but the visiting Spokane Expos scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat the Lumbermen 11-6 in a Legion baseball game on Friday at Thorco Field.

Spokane took a 5-1 lead after the third inning, but Coeur d’Alene countered with a five-run fourth, keyed by a two-run double by Jackson Scherr to cut the deficit to 5-3.

Marcus Manzardo and Quinn Conces had two hits each for Coeur d’Alene (11-15-1), which is scheduled to host the Moses Lake Spuds in a doubleheader on Monday at Thorco Field starting at 5 p.m.

Pocatello 1, Twin Falls 0: Caden McCurdy struck out four for the Runnin’ Rebels in a win over the Cowboys in the state AA championship game on Friday at Minico High in Rupert.

Teams from Coeur d’Alene and Prairie, as well as those from the Boise area opted not to travel for the tournament due to the coronavirus pandemic.
