The Coeur Group, a volunteer organization of local businessmen, has received a $5,000 donation from Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance as part of an Emergency Community Support Grant to help agents give back to their community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nominated by Coeur Group board member Peter Howard, a sales executive and team lead with PayneWest, the donation will go to the Coeur Group in its mission to support at-risk students.

"I was so excited that we won," Howard said. "We're really going to be able to take these funds and get them on the ground and help these families and kids that really need it."

Coeur Group members will work with local school districts to distribute basic necessities, including socks, underwear, toiletries and food to children whose lives have been impacted by COVID-19.

“The goal of the Emergency Community Support Grants is to help agents make an immediate impact during this critical time in the local communities where they live and work,” said Alexis Holzer, spokesperson at Liberty Mutual and Safeco.

The Coeur Group is now close to $25,000 in funds raised for COVID relief.

"We're going to stretch that and use it to help the community in a lot of different ways," Howard said.
