Shutdown protesters plan rally

COEUR d’ALENE — A rally to protest the continued shutdown of Idaho restaurants and bars due to the coronavirus is set for 1 p.m. Friday.

Organizer Shelby Longacre, a bartender at the Hogfish bar on 20th and Sherman, said they plan to meet at McEuen Park and walk through the downtown area.

She said she and many others in the food service industry have received little assistance since Gov. Brad Little’s stay-home order on March 25 and are struggling to survive economically. They believe that due to Kootenai County’s low number of coronavirus cases, about 60, they should be able to work.

All are welcome to join the rally, Longacre said.
