Mystery man in T-Rex costume brings joy to Rathdrum on Sunday

RATHDRUM — A mystery man delivered a dinosaur-sized helping of joy to his community on Sunday.

Rathdrum resident Barbara Adams saw a young man in an inflatable Tyrannosaurus Rex costume strolling down her street.

“This kid just came out of nowhere," Adams said Monday. "I haven’t seen that before in our community."

The dino-man stopped at the intersection of Highway 41 and Boekel Road, where he waved to honking drivers as he rocked out with his ukulele. Adams approached the young man for an impromptu rap session to a version of "Ice Ice Baby," to which he danced and did a cartwheel, bringing even more joy to onlookers. She caught this on video and posted it in the Rathdrum Corona Kindness Group on Facebook.

"To see somebody wearing such a silly costume, seeing him do that just told me a lot about his heart and what he was doing,” Adams said. "He was very kind, he was a very well-mannered young man."

She thought she heard him say his name is James or Jim and that he is a senior at a local high school, but he went on his way before she could confirm.

Either way, Adams said with all the coronavirus news and bad stuff going on in the world, this young man and his quirky way of making people smile touched her heart.

"He made my day,” she said. "He definitely deserves recognition for sure. He touched the hearts of a lot of people."

So who’s that dino? Email dweeks@cdapress.com if the young man would like to step forward and reveal the identity of this rockin' T-Rex.
