PSST: Need a haircut?

| April 24, 2020 1:00 AM

You’re not alone! When asked what people would do first when the COVID restrictions are lifted, most answers I’m hearing are “get a haircut, color or other salon service.”

As former owner of the Sandpoint School of Hair Design in Sandpoint and Shear Dimensions Salon in Bonner Mall, I am so pleased to see the increased appreciation of these hardworking cosmetologists and barbers. These small businesses have been shut down completely by this pandemic. All employees in this industry need a state cosmetology license to operate and are regulated by strict sanitary rules.

For years, I explained to students that for many people trade and technical schools were a good path to achieving a career — as well as receiving a college degree.

I sincerely hope that all of you employees and small business owners can “weather the storm” and are able to survive and handle the demand that surely will come when this is over. We need you!
