Free coffee a path to inspiration

COEUR d’ALENE — Pastor Jonathan Owens and his wife, Raydeane, are usually busy running Heart of the City Church.

Thursday morning, they were busy running free coffee to first responders at Created Coffee.

“This is for all they do,” Jonathan said as he and his wife took a break between carrying lattes, mochas and espressos to firefighters, police officers and health care workers in their waiting vehicles.

For two hours, the owners of Created Coffee, Scott Gittel, daughter Tyler Robb and her husband, Hagan Robb, whipped up coffee drinks, while the Owenses handled the deliveries just outside the door of the shop at 1830 N. Third St.

Hagan Robb said they’d been looking for ways to honor the community during this coronavirus crisis, so when Heart of the City approached them with the idea of free coffee for first responders, they loved it.

“We wanted to help,” he said.

Tyler Robb said it was a chance to let the community know who Created Coffee is and what it’s about.

“We feel like this is the perfect way to gather, inspire, and create,” she said.
